THE FAVOR by Suzanne Wright
"Love you, baby girl. You told me you don't need the words, but you deserve to hear them. I don't want you to ever be unsure of what I feel for you. I need you to know deep down to your bones that you're the most important thing in my world. I need you to know I could never love anything or anyone the way I love you."
I have to say it makes me super happy whenever I pick a book and never regretted a second reading it. This book has been-as usual- been on my TBR list since last year but I only got to pick it yesterday and I loved reading every page of it. I was so giddy while reading it I don't want it to end.
SYNOPSIS
Vienna Stratton knew she only had herself to blame. You didn’t let yourself become indebted to a man like Dane Davenport, no matter how badly you needed his help. As his personal assistant, she was very aware that the globally successful CEO was ruthless and unforgiving.
Of course, if she’d known he’d request that she be his wife for twelve months, she’d have hesitated in accepting his help. Because what she’d learned from Dane was that the devil wasn’t ugly and terrorising. He was seductive and captivating. He hummed with whispers of temptation – the temptation to sin and surrender, to let him brand and possess you. He awakened every need and fantasy you had.
He could even make you love him.

This is not the first marriage of convenience book I've read and to be honest I was hesitating on reading this at first since it's your typical arranged marriage. You know, the kind where the hero convinces the heroine to marry him to get his inheritance-in this case to have access to his trust fund. At first I thought, ha! How typical. But then I found myself reading this page after page all night to the point that I want to give up my sleep just to finish reading it. 😂
Vienna Stratton is the PA of Dane Davenport, CEO of o-Verve, for four years now and after Dane did a huge favor to Vienna, he wants to collect that favor from her. How? By asking her to marry him for at least 12 months. Why? Yes you guessed right. To have access to his trust fund and afterward they'll get divorce. Why now? Dane is already 37 years old and the contract of the trust fund stipulates that he cannot have access to it if he's not married until he's 38 years old. LOL. I thought the number was odd. Why 38?? Hmmm.. Now he wants to have a hold of his trust fund since if he's not married, his 2 brothers shall have access to it instead. Dane was worried since his younger brother Travis is so eager to have his hands to his trust fund and he cannot allow that even though he has enough wealth since he knows that Travis will only use the money to gamble more for his addiction. At first Vienna was hesitant to agree with Dane but after he mentioned the HUGE favor he did to Vienna in the past, she has no choice but to agree.
This may be your typical marriage of convenience story but I think it was unique in its own way. I love some of the side characters especially Vienna's father Simon who has a DID. At first I was confused whenever Vienna mentions several names when she talks about her father but then when Dane met him, everything became clear. It was so heartwarming whenever Simon speaks to Vienna. Dane may be a cold bastard but if I know he's been lusting Vienna since day 1. HAHA. On the contrary, Heather and Hope really infuriates me. Those two can be BFFs for real.
I really enjoyed reading this. This is a long book but it was an easy and fast read. It doesn't really have much drama happening between Vienna and Dane. The narratives were long but it was okay. I just wished there was Dane's POV so we know what goes on in his head. I always laugh whenever Vienna thinks Dane as a warlock because he can easily read her mind. Anyway, I won't mind reading books like this so long as it's not cringy and the heroine doesn't act as a doormat. That's all I'm asking. LOL.
