KINGDOM DUET by Rina Kent

 #1 REIGN OF A KING

"I’m trapped by his sheer presence and held prisoner by the darkened depths of his grey eyes. It’s like being caught in the eye of a hurricane and all I can do is fall."

BLURB

Nothing is fair in war.

Jonathan King is every bit his last name.
Powerful.
Untouchable.
Corrupted.
He’s also my dead sister’s husband and way older than me.
When I first met him as a clueless child, I thought he was a god.
Now, I have to confront that god to protect my business from his ruthless grip.
Little did I know that declaring a war on the king will cost me everything.
When Jonathan covets something, he doesn’t only win, he conquers.
Now, he has his sights on me.
He wants to consume not only my body, but also my heart and my soul.
I fight, but there’s no escaping the king in his kingdom...

I'm gonna be completely honest here and say that I have never liked Jonathan. EVER. I thought this book will change my mind since we'll get his side of the story and we'll finally get a glimpse of what's happening in his mind. But man! I did not though. I mean, even after knowing his side, I'm still not convinced and it didn't turn me into a fan. Jonathan just proved that he is the worst dad for Aiden. I mean, how come he did not show Aiden his love and care but after meeting and being with Aurora for only a few months he loves her and he's being possessive of her like a creep! If Aiden is over the top possessive, Jonathan is on another level. I mean, sometimes I'm just questioning things like... really?? Are you freaking serious?? Also, I did not really liked Aurora. Ahm.. what to say.. Uhm.. I did not really feel the chemistry between her and Jonathan. I feel like the tension between them was just so meh. One thing is for sure though, now we know where Aiden got his possessiveness streak and being an asshole. LOL.

#2 RISE OF A QUEEN

"If I pluck the bloody stars from the sky and scatter them at her feet. She’ll just step over them and run."

BLURB

Nothing is fair in love.

This is my kingdom. My territory.
I own everything and control everyone, Aurora included.
She shouldn’t have barged into my world with no armour.
She shouldn’t have caught my attention with no warning.
Alas, she did.
Then she thought she could disappear.
If a battle is what it’ll take to protect and own her, I’ll shed blood.
Wars aren’t fair, and neither am I.

Okay, I really tried okay?? I'm also a fan of age gap romance trope but sadly, this duet is not for me. The only thing that entertained me was the glimpses of Aiden and Elsa. Hehe. Also, Jonathan's possessiveness towards Aurora is just becoming so annoying. Like, TAKE A BREATHER MAN!! Also, I was uncomfortable of the fact that Aurora is the sister of Jonathan's dead wife and she even attended their wedding when she was little. And I mean little girl. A.FREAKING.KID. I don't know, I was ready to DNF this I was just waiting for that moment where it'll grab my attention and finally make me interested on the things that's happening here but it did not happen even after I finish reading the whole thing. Unfortunately, my only goal while reading this was to finish it. I lost interest on the story that I did not care anymore on what'll happen next.
