DON'T KISS THE BRIDE by Carian Cole

“I guess I’ve just always been drawn to older things. They have character and give me a sort of comfort. They’ve been forgotten and tossed aside.” She takes a wistful breath. “I guess I want to love them. Remind them they still matter. Does that make sense? Or does it sound stupid?”

I loooovveee love everything about this book! It was everything I expected and anticipated!

SYNOPSIS

I guess you could say I was a damsel in distress, and he was my knight in shining armor.

But more accurately, I was a girl with a lot of bad luck, and he was a guy with a lot of muscles and tattoos.

Jude “Lucky” Lucketti wasn’t just a sexy, brooding construction worker. He was my own personal hero who seemed to be in all the right places at the right times. Like when my car broke down and I needed a ride home, and when I face planted on the sidewalk right in front of him and had to be taken to the emergency room.

Those weren’t exactly my best moments, but they were his.

We became friends, and it didn’t matter that he was sixteen years older than me. We had a lot in common—like our love of old rock music and vintage fast cars, and our aversion to relationships.

When he approached me with a crazy idea to help me out, I couldn’t say no.

The arrangement was supposed to be temporary. A marriage on paper and nothing else.

It should’ve been easy, but it wasn’t.

Because here I am, eighteen years-old, still in high school, and married to a man I was never supposed to fall in love with.

We had just one rule—no kissing the bride.

But we broke that rule, and it sealed our fate forever.

Where to start? Haayyy... this book! First of all, Skylar and Jude's chemistry is so undeniable despite their age difference. Jude might be 34 years old but he is doesn't feel like old old and Skylar despite being only 18 years old was so mature for her age. Maybe because of her situation that even since young she has to take care of herself. Jude really surprised me. What I love about Carian's characters, especially the heroes, is that, even though they are tattooed and long haired, they are not the usual bad boy or asshole kind of hero.

I really love Jude's personality and how he wants to take care of people around him especially Skylar-how he suggested marrying her just to help her with her health insurance feelings and all be damned. He's the kind who wants to fix someone because of want happened to her sister. I love that he compliments so much with Skylar which is a plus plus. Skylar is one of the strongest and bravest heroines I've read. Despite of everything that she's going through, with her family, her schooling, and her health, she remains strong and brave. The way Jude takes care of her and think about her health always is so adorable and so swooning.

This books is so slow burn sometimes you'll get frustrated but in a best way. You just want to keep reading and want to know what'll happen next. I read this in two days only when I know I can finish reading this overnight but I did not because I never want to finish it and want the feels that I feel to last. That's how good this book is! I've read a lot of age gap books but so far this is my favorite! I love that there are less sexual scenes between Jude and Skylar and mainly focused on how these two should get their heads out of their asses. That was the most frustrating part. How they can't just confess their feelings toward each other and instead wait for the other to do the first move which leads to too much drama bit I think it was still okay. However, I was genuinely surprised with the ending. And I mean the last part. I thought it was so abrupt I did not prepare myself at all. It was still good and did not changed my feelings about the whole book.

I definitely recommend this book!
