NO TOMORROW by Carian Cole
First of all, I just wanna say that I read this book blindly without reading anything about its gist so I have no idea what this book is about. I just read a post on one of facebook groups that I joined about this book and she said that this book made her cry and the love story between Piper and Blue is so bizarre and sad. And I'm a sucker for tear-jerking love stories or stories in general so I gave this a shot and I'm just gonna say, this book tore my heart open.
SYNOPSIS
They say you never forget your first love.
Mine was a homeless musician who wandered straight into my soul.
He was my first everything. And fourteen years later, I still can't get him out of my head.
He broke all my rules.
He also broke my heart.
I watched him climb to stardom, cheering him on from afar.
But I was never a fan; just a girl in love.
Like a tornado, he spiraled, leaving a path of destruction in his wake.
But love conquers all, right? It has to. Because here I stand, ravaged and ruined, needing it to be true.
You can’t go back, but I want to. Back to the bridge. Back to when he sang only for me. Before he was famous. Before he shattered my heart.
I thought I knew everything about him.
But I could not have been more wrong.
He promised me every tomorrow. And here I am, waiting.
And hoping.
Again.
I can still remember the term used by the user from the post I told you on facebook on how she described Piper- a DOORMAT. And I kinda agreed to her to some extent. Piper is a very kind girl who always sees the good in people and it's in her nature to help those in need even animals. So I think it's not shocking that she also helps homeless people right? From the very first time she met eyes wit Blue, she was captivated by his music and not him in general. But the way Blue looks at her while he plays his guitar made her feel different. Like she's important at once and not the boring and plain Piper she always thought of herself.
To be honest, I was exhausted after reading this because of the timeline. I think fourteen years is a lot of time though. A lot of unexpected things happened in that spun of years and it shocked me to the core. I really admired Blue and Piper's love toward each other and the way it never changed even after long years. Also, the fact that this book talks about the mental health not only of a commoner but that of celebrities is a really good point and is very relevant in today's society. Like how many people don't care about other people's feelings that it constantly affects their daily lives especially those of people in media. I think this book needs to be read by everyone to know that our words have an impact on one's life. They may appear happy in the camera but just reading a useless negative comment from someone who hides behind a computer may affect their whole life. If you don't have anything good to say, then just keep it to yourself.
On a lighter note, I had this habit of checking how many pages or chapters a book has before I read them so when I found out this book has freaking 65 chapters, I thought it'll be dragging and be boring at some point but I was mistaken. I devoured this book in a day and I just wanna keep on reading each chapter and know what'll happen next. That's how this book really captured me. There may be some parts where you'll be exhausted because of how Piper acts, because I was too, but I think it's only because of her unequivocal love to Blue and she wants to help him not to lose himself completely and give him assurance that life has so much more to offer and that there a lot of people who actually loves him.
This book is an emotional roller coaster and it's so angsty sometimes you wanna punch someone. Haha. I can't recommend this book enough!
